I was really putting off starting this project because I didn’t want to bother with the sketch. But this is all about Breaking Your Boundaries, so I HAD to do the sketch because that was the point!

Don’t know why I was putting it off. I loved it. I’d forgotten about the fixative thing – that it’s like drawing on the paper again without muddying the colours you have already laid down.

It was great for investigating the forms and allowing some artistic license. I am finally coming round to the idea that things DON’T have to be a direct and perfect representation of what I have seen – that I can adapt them to make the composition or material work better.
