Here is another piece I made for the Winter Submission at Obsidian.
This was based on ice circles that formed on the lake when I was at college. I don’t have any pictures of them, but they were really beautiful and I was inspired to make them by some of the materials I bought at the Knitting and Stitching Show.
I found this lovely pinky/grey/cream fleece at the Colinette stand. Now I hate pink – but one of the colour books I was reading talked of forcing students to work with colours they hate until they loved the colour. I’m still not a lover of pink – but I LOVE this piece.
The ice circles are proud of the surface and cast great shadows. I texted a picture to my friend Alison (she was testing out her new phone) and she said it reminded her of the moon. That is pretty frozen too, so I don’t mind. In fact I don’t mind WHAT people see in my work – as long as they have a response to it. Intended or not, positive or not.
