Really interesting article in the Mail yesterday about a volcano errupting near the island of El Hierro in the Canaries. I’ve been to a couple of the islands in the canaries and been to the dormant/extinct volcanoes they had on offer. As the plates move though, old volcanoes appear to ‘die off’ and new ones grow up. In reality, it is just that the earth’s surface has shifted on a bit more than the last time the magma came to the surface (like they do in the Hawaiian islands).
Some great aerial photos of the activity under the sea. Gorgeous colours!!!
