Kings cross roof

I promised I’d take a photo of the new roof at Kings Cross station for my dad. Before he retired he worked for one of the construction companies working on it so he wanted to see what his mates had been up to.

I think it’s simply beautiful. Just that. Simple but beautiful. Complex but simple. A modern take on the vaulted ceilings in churches (such as Kings College Chapel). I find the construction of pieces in the design fascinating. Like a quilt. The more interested I become in making 3d objects from flat pieces, the more I am noticing architecture using these elements. I think I can learn a lot about constructing these shapes from architecture.
