Reading images

In my essay preparation, I realised it would be worthwhile showing, pictorially, what I mean by ‘reading’ an image.

Below are 5 examples of how I derived the colours for part of my Shard to Kings Cross journey.

The left side of the image shows how I read it – and the order the colours appeared to me. I understand this will be different for every individual and will be dependent on one’s colour preferences – but these are mine. On the right, you can see the colours picked from the image and underneath the stripe widths according to the prevalence of the specified colour in the image.
