I’m on fire today. I can’t stop making! Maybe it’s avoiding the essay or maybe I just need to get all this stuff out and tried.
Anyway, based on the painted canvas I felted this piece which I am going to seam together into a vessel.
Although these seams weren’t as raw as with the singlar pieces, they are more of a piping, I really, really like them. They are very satisfying to make, create a better all-round robustness to the piece, and disrupt the piece well enough without destroying any beauty. I would really like to try another with a wider gait and shaped seams – that make both a pattern and a more interesting form. They also add to the idea of trying to contain memories. A bit like air in a bag – you compress it here, but the bag expands here.
